My IHG, The End

I'm back, with a new blog post!!

Kinda overdue though coz i wanted to do this for quite sometime. Just couldn't find the time. =p

Anyway, as the title suggest, i am here to talk about the end of my IHG journey, whether it's the last or not, i am not too sure yet. Hahah...

Anyway, I played 2 roles in this IHG, as a TM and a player, let's start with TM first. =D

At the start of the uni year, Denise, my dearest Volleyball girls captain approached me and ask whether i was interested to be her TM. At that time, i told her that if she can't find someone more appropriate, i don't mind helping her out as a friend. =) So, in the end, Volleyball Girls TM 2010/11 is.......

HENRY KONG!!!

In the few months that passed, i have come to know the girls better, managed to talk to them more, understand them a bit more and care for them as much as i could. I still remember it all started out with the Volleyball girls trials, where i had to drag/carry the big big tumbler from hall all the way to the MPSC. Ended up less than 10 people turned up and more than half the water was wasted. Luckily after that trial(for me as well), i managed to locate smaller tumblers. =D

Throughout the trainings and all, i experienced different different emotions: Happiness, when the girls played well, bonded as a team, trained hard and made silly jokes out of each other. Disappointment, when the girls don't mixed around, very quiet during training, feeling emo and  when the girls don't turn up for training and didn't tell me the truth why they can't come. =(

But nonetheless, i still enjoyed training with them, helping them to fill up their water bottles, setting up the equipments etc. =D Coz i know, at the end of the day, it's worth it. This was what i wrote in the TM profile thing:

"I want to do my job well, such that the girls can focus fully on the court. Everything off the court, i will handle."

I won't say i did a perfect job, but i hope that i have done well. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what they are thinking judging from their facial expressions. =p

The period that followed after the volleyball season was over was quite unusual for me. It felt weird not going down to the hall immediately to set up the net and all. It felt weird not having to carry 2 bottles(or more) of 100plus to the hall. It felt weird, not seeing the 16 girls i have spent at least 2 nights per week(sounds wrong) for the past couple of months. It felt weird, for not being able to cheer, clap and play volleyball with them. It was just plain weird. Hahaha.. But oh well, all things must come to an end right? =)

All of them have improved so much that sometimes when i see them play, it inspires me to train hard myself, to show that nothing is impossible. Like what i have told some of them, what they have achieved in months, was what i achieved in a year. That is incredible(and not coz i am cui).

I'm really proud to be their TM, and i really hope that they will get a better TM next year, coz they totally deserve it. =D GO GIRLS!!
Now, moving on as a player.

If i were to summarise my first IHG season as a player in one word, sadly, the word would be:

Regret

Sad to say, even up till this point, i still haven't got over the fact that we aren't champions. I had so much confidence, so much certainty, that the gold was ours. But things were not meant to be, we lost. And i won't put the blame on the referee, the opponents or even ourselves. Coz it's just isn't fair to pinpoint anyone. You don't always have to blame someone.

But i must say that training with the guys was really fun. I made new friendships, people like Joe, my fellow substitute and Jenn, a really nice and funny guy. =p I gained new respect for people like Sheng Li and Yong hui, who are awesome leaders, coaches and players. And of course, i had fun with rest of the team, training hard, going for meals together, cheering each other on.

We deserve so much more, but this just wasn't our year. It was sad to see tears from your teammates' eyes, and even more so, from our senior TM Christy, who helped us so so much and yet, wasn't able to get the gold in her last year. =(
So sorry, seniors. =(

As for myself, i regret for not being a better player to help the team. =( I really hope that if i were to stay in Sheares next year, i will become a better player. Hopefully, my hard work will cover up for whatever lack of talent i have.
Irealised since i am involved in both teams, I AM THE JINX??! Omg.. Then i better leave next year. =( It wasn't a great year for Sheares volleyball team in terms of results. But it was a good year in terms of friendships, bonding and good times together. =)

People who don't matter remember the winners, but people who do matter remember the teammates, the sweat, the cheers, the laughter, and sometimes, their TM.=p

Sheares Volleyballer,
Henry
